This page is being updated regularly in accordance with information provided by the Mentawai Regional Government, West Sumatra Provincial Government, and Indonesia’s central government.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of COVID-19 testing protocols for domestic and international visitors and confirmation from the department of immigration regarding the recommencement of issuing Tourist Visas on Arrival (VOA).

Currently, the protocol is that domestic or international visitors must undergo a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19 prior to departure to Mentawai, which normally takes 3-4 days to receive the results.

The most recent information suggests that if this test has been done previously and is still valid with a certificate within 7 days, then a PCR test will not be required once again in Padang. However, a rapid nasal swap test is required prior to boarding the Mentawai Fast at no extra cost carried out by local medical staff and the department of quarantine.

We are planning to re-open Friday, July 10th, in response to Regional Decree No. 30, year 2020, outlining the pre-requisites of the ‘New Normal’ regulations with respect to Productivity, health, and safety, becoming valid from June 20th, year 2020.

We are currently updating our internal regulations and standard operational procedures (SOP’s) accordingly, and making the necessary upgrades to our facilities to satisfy the new health and safety regulations to be surveyed by authorities prior to reopening.

Air Asia and Garuda Indonesia have announced the resumption of connecting flights to and from Padang from Wednesday, July 1st. Mentawai Fast has confirmed it will be resuming its ferry transfers from Padang to Sikakap from Friday, June 26th, 2020.

Please stay tuned for further updates to be released to this page.
