Transfers include airport pick up on Tuesdays (arrival to Padang must be no later than 13:30), 1 hour mini-bus transfer with baggage and surf board bags to Bungus Harbor, ferry tickets, port handling of luggage and surf board bags, twin or quad share air-conditioned cabins, evening meal, speedboat pick up in Sikakap Port at 07:30 am and transfer to Macaronis Resort arriving at 9:00am Wednesday morning.
When traveling from Macaronis Resort to Padang, you will depart on Wednesday after lunch at 13:30 by speedboat to Sikakap Port, boarding the Ambu Ambu Ferry and departing at 17.00, and arriving back in Padang at 07:00am Thursday morning. Your flight out of Padang must depart no earlier than 10:00am Thursday morning.
The cost of transfers using Ambu Ambu Ferry is AUD 200 each way (AUD 400 Rtn), or AUD 300 for those not carrying surf boards.
Surf Air is still in the process of organizing its licenses and permits (expected to be operable some time in year 2013). Upon commencement of sea plane flights, guests will be offered the opportunity to fly directly to and from Macaronis Resort on Tuesdays, taking just 55 minutes. Surf Air's Twin Otter Amphibian seaplane can comfortably seat up to 12 passengers, 24 surf boards and luggage.

For large groups, private transfers can be arranged traveling over-night on a live aboard vessel from A$3,000.
Speed boat crossings take minimum 6 hours and are largely dependent on weather conditions. There are 6 passenger and 14 passenger speedboats, which also carry surf boards and luggage. Prices range from A$1800 - A$2,500 per group for a one way transfer.

The Ambu Ambu Ferry offers twin or quad share air-conditioned cabins (8 VIP cabins / 24 beds in total). Macaronis Resort has first option of booking cabins on Ambu Ambu Ferry for the Padang Sikakap route.
Departure to Sikakap in Mentawai is at 17:00 hrs on Tuesdays arriving in Sikakap Wednesday mornings at 7:00am, then later the same day the ferry departs Sikakap at 17:00 hrs arriving back in Padang at 7:00am the following Thursday morning.
We have been using the Ambu Ambu Ferry since year 2007 and have found it to be most reliable. Under contract, the Ambu Ambu Ferry must achieve at least 95% reliability, otherwise it would not be subsidized by the Indonesian Government according to its operational contract.
