Macaronis Resort

Guest Testimonials

Addicted to Macas!

We had a stellar stay at Macas Resort in March - April 2008, for the second time. Apart from its natural beauty and the wAvEs, we thoroughly enjoyed the good food, company and attentiveness of the staff, in making sure we had the best possible time off the waves as well.

In fact we enjoyed ourselves so much over our 2 week stay, we extended our stay by another 2 weeks and gave Bali a miss - next time around we'll plan it right.

Thanks again guys. We're really looking forward to next years visit, 2 months down already :-)

Surfed every single day for between 5 and 8 hours, there were always great waves to be had. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. Plenty of tasty food, and top accomodation. Sad to leave!

* Alex actually hold's the water time record for the longest time spent in the water in two weeks. 5-8 hours a day over 15 days = approximately 100 hours, and that's no word of a lie, he did surf 5 - 8 hours every day, sometimes straight. A marathon effort Alex, look forward to seeing you back again someday. P.S... bring more chocolate next time !!

Hey Mark, a few lines for your website...

I stayed at Macaronis Resort for two weeks in March 2008.
We spent three days sailing down to Macaronis on Indies Explorer and surfed HT's and Scarecrows on the way.
Macaronis is one of the funnest waves I've ever surfed and is excellent when small, big or even with onshore wind.
The resort at Macaroni's is amazing. Eight Large bungalows all with hot water, Air con and wireless internet.
Great food with plenty of variety. The best service. Fresh fish caught daily.
All this and just five minutes by boat to get to Macas left or right.
Cheers for a great trip. Already planning my next visit.

Macas, what a place, really poured it on for us, Macas left was firing, big stand up barrels, yep this is what the Mentawais is all about. Did I mention the food - amazing, some of the best in Indo. Bungalows on the water top notch, staff were great, even had a chance to hook up some fish, its got it all, definitely be back, in May, great option of land based with boat trips available on a truly grand boat.

Thanks for ‘the ultimate surf trip’. I have traveled and surfed all over Indonesia including Nias in the 80’s. This was the ultimate surf trip because I could relax in luxury accommodation in one of the most remote and wave rich areas in the world. Maca’s definitely is one of the best waves I have ever surfed, makes it hard to surf in cold water back home after that trip. Staff, food and bar offered first class service, thanks again!

I had a great time at Macaroni's Surf Resort! I caught overhead waves at Macas several days during my 10 day visit. When the waves at Macas were small, we utilized the resort's fast boat to catch big waves at Thunders, Lance's Left and Hollow Trees. The accommodation, meals, and employees at the resort are first class, five star. The resort seemed to be virtually mosquito free, and I thought it was awesome relaxing, and especially sleeping, at the resort in contrast to staying on a Mentawai charter boat – Thank you!

I stayed at Macaronis Resort during 2005 and had a great trip. The villas are just to good to be true!! Really spacious and excellent facilities, I enjoyed the air-con, sat TV, spa bath and deck to have a few beers to watch the sunset. Bar and Cafe is awesome with great food, cold draft beers and the pool and table tennis tables. Got great waves and the speedboats and knowledgeable surf guides were excellent in getting the best or good un-crowded waves on any given day. Also can't complain about having the best left in the Mentawai's on the doorstep. Excellent resort and fast boats - Get out there!!

I stayed at Macaronis Resort for 10 days in August 2005 and had an awesome time. The best part about the resort is the set up. You've got a sick wave right in front and then if it’s crowded or you want to go somewhere else, you jump in one of the speedboats and jet down there. During my stay we surfed 'Thunders' all by ourselves, we surfed 'Rags Left' all by ourselves again and a different time we went all the way to 'the hole' and got awesome waves once again all by ourselves. We also found a fun little secret spot which to no surprise we surfed all by ourselves.

That's the best thing about the resort, if no ones at Maca's or if it’s going off, you just surf there, and if you want to go anywhere else, you jet off and get there in no time. That was actually really funny flying past all the other yachts that take a whole day to get from one break to the next. With Maca's Resort the surfing was only one thing, but you have to take into account that it is a RESORT. No longer was I stuck on a yacht with limited space and having to go to surf breaks where everyone else wanted to go. I could lounge about in a hammock or on the deck, put movies on or watch the different pay channels on TV (the fashion channel
is the go haha).

The Meals were absolutely awesome, as tasty as food gets and enough to feed an army! Once again the benefit of staying at a RESORT!! The rooms are air-conditioned so no need to worry about mozzies. I hardly saw any mozzies and I don't remember getting bitten at all.

It was awesome being able to call up a boat on the phone to pick me up from the porch at my own leisure to take me to one of the best surf breaks (Maca’s) then once I'm done, get dropped back off on the porch and run into the room for a SPA. Yes a SPA ha-ha once again, remember your staying in a RESORT. I have no worries in recommending Maca’s Resort to anyone and must say everything about it is awesome, the staff, the food, the waves, and the service! I will definitely be going back, lets just say I swapped the boat trip for the Resort and I'm not going back!

I’ve visited the Mentawai’s 6 times and right now it is the resort that outperforms any competition out there in the Mentawai’s – it was totally bitchen.

The villas have: TV with live cam looking at the Macaroni's break / 10 stations to view assorted movies / 2 story accommodation - 2 A/C's / queen size beds as well as singles / stocked fridge / daily villa cleanups- include new fresh towels and linen as well as laundry service / in-room phones for room service / pick-up and drop-off boat to surf break from the porch by phone / showers on the outside steps / fair size bathrooms with hot or cold Jacuzzi / and comfortable couches and chairs inside and out on porches where you can watch the killer sunsets if you're not in the water.

The Cafe' has: A full bar / lots of variety of food and drinks / big screen movies and or stereo DJ / pool tables and ping-pong tables / look-out floor for viewing the break / plenty of dining tables and room to eat without rubbing elbows / couches and lounging areas inside and out as well as a couple of hammocks to relax in. The speed boat goes 35 knots but we cruise at about 26-30 most of the time > plus we can get to anywhere faster than anyone and off to another uncrowded break if it does get crowed. (Plus Marc knows all the breaks and the wind conditions for finding the uncrowded waves and getting there the quickest way possible.) We didn't get a chance to do it, but Marc also has a para-sailing shoot that you can go around the bay with > (I'm waiting for the pics from that when they get it out and get some shots from the air!!) The service is great > all the staff and management are focused into the comfort and service that you would expect from a high class resort.

It sure beats having to be on a boat the whole time trying to keep your towels clean / bed clean / limited water for bathing / trying to find the comfortable spot on the boat without interrupting some one / and that sort of stuff. It can feel like a long time on the boat > where as at the resort / with so much to do / you wish you could stay longer! I’ll be back with my bro’s for sure next year.

"As a tourist that doesn’t handle boats very well (I get sea sick) it was lovely to be able to enjoy the wonders of the Mentawai's on dry land.  Spectacular scenery, beautiful food and ‘A 1’ accommodation. The smiling staff were helpful and friendly, ready to cater to our every query.  As a first time overseas traveler it was a beautiful, safe location that I can’t wait to visit again. A must see for any surfer, and even more so for the less adventurous partner."

G’day Mark - Just wanted to let you know what a fantastic job you are doing and that your staff are '' A'' class excellent and add to the whole Macas Resort adventure. The quality of service was good in Bali, but your kitchen and restaurant staff were better, the smile on the face also makes a difference. Say giday to Stick, Andrew, Dib and Rabbit for me, and let Anthony (the head bar man) know of my comments and have him pass it on to his team if you see fit. See you ferrets in the green room ,TOM

I was recently in the Mentawaiis on a 14 day surfing charter. Whilst at Macaronis the surf was flat so we decided to come over and check out your resort. We couldn't believe it. It was absolute heaven. The manger (whose name I have forgotten) gave us a tour around your facilities which were absolutely fantastic. He showed us the villas and the rest of the facilities and having been all over Indo - Lackey's, G-Land, Sumba + many boat trips all my friends and I said that these were the best facilities anywhere in Indo. After the guided tour we enjoyed a few cold tap beers on the patio out the back of the main Bar/Restaurant which was just bliss

As an Airline Pilot/Surfer and already travelled the four corners of the World, there’s only one place that comes to my mind when I think about Good Waves, Relaxation and Comfort, and that place is Macaronis Resort. Fastest Boats, Best Food, Coldest Beer and Ahhh, the best Jacuzzi.

Looking forward to coming back in a sea plane one day...
