Mooring Use at Macaronis

On Tuesday 20th April 2010, Silabu Village which acting on behalf of the Mentawai Government introduced compulsary use of 2 Moorings for visiting charter boats to Teluk Pasongan / Macaronis wave.

In year 2011, all mooring equipment has been replaced with new marine grade chain, new shackles and new custom made polyethylene Mooring buoys, in preparation for the year 2012 season.

Implimentation of the Mooring system is to prevent over-crowding in the bay and to protect the marine environment, as well as to benefit co-existance between Macaronis Resort, Silabu Village and the charter boat fleet.

A charge of Rp.300.000 ($33) is applicable for daily use of mooring buoys, this money is collected by Silabu Village and is used to fund village staff regulating mooring buoy use, and the remainder goes toward local community projects, allowing the local community also to benefit from surf tourism in Silabu.

This decision has been made in compliance with Public notice issued by Head of Mentawai Government Feb 2009 and Public notice issued by Kepala Desa Silabu Oct 2009.

Both Moorings nearby Macas wave have been surveyed by Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI) and are licensed by Mentawai Government.

We thank all charter boat operators for your understanding and cooperation.
