Macaronis Resort

Surf Charters - Indies Explorer

New on the list of services that we provide are 1 week surf charters for parties of 6 aboard the Indies Explorer. The availability of this option is dependant on guest numbers booked to stay at Macaronis Resort.

In addition to Indies Explorer Surf Charters, day charters are also available from Macaronis Resort traveling further afeild than Bat Cave or Greenbush on our new 6.8m aluminum Speedboat (see below for details).

1 Week Boat Charter Package - Indies Explorer:

Previously the Indies Explorer has stood by at Macaronis Resort for guests to visit other areas of Southern Mentawai. However as we have found that the vast majority of resort guests prefer to spend of their time based at Macaronis Resort visiting surrounding areas using speedboats, we are now offering weekly charter packages for groups of 6 aboard the Indies Explorer from May 2010 onwards, while resort guests may still choose to join in on a boat trip for 2-3 nights at their preference.

Likewise, if you are on a 1 week surf charter on Indies Explorer and you'd like to jump off at the resort for a couple of nights rest, then you can do so at no extra charge if there is a spare villa available - now how's that for flexibility!!

Indies Explorer surf charters are shorter, meaning you don't have to endure the expense of a normal Mentawai boat charter. At just US$1630 per person, Indies Explorer surf charters are about the most affordable surf charters available in the Mentawais.

You need to arrive at Padang airport on a Tuesday (arrival on domestic flight by 2:00pm or 2.45pm if flying Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur) and you will be transferred to Ambu Ambu Ferry which departs every Tuesday at 5:00pm. Return to Padang is also with departing resort guests arriving back in Padang at 7:30am. Flights out of Padang can booked any time after 10:00am on Thursday mornings.

Wednesday 8:00am depart Sikakap to Macaronis Resort on Indies Explorer. On Wednesday you will be welcome to use resort facilities and surf at Macaronis or surrounding breaks and the first night your accommodation will be at Macaronis Resort while Indies Explorer drops off departing guests to Sikakap, then on Thursday morning you will re-board Indies Explorer departing either north to Lances region or south to Thunders region (or visiting breaks in between).

From Thursday to Tuesday you will enjoy surfing a variety of surf breaks including Thunders, Roxies, Rag's Left, Rag's Right, Greenbush, Macaronis (when passing through), Bat Cave, Lances Right, Bintangs and Lances Left.

On Tuesday evening you will arrive back at Macaronis to spend your final night at Macaronis Resort enjoying our traditional out-door BBQ break up with other departing guests. Please note that both nights spent at Macaronis Resort will be in one of 8 water front villas (6 can share one villa if required), or alternatively an air-conditioned bunk room is available on the second floor of the main building.

On Wednesday at 12:00pm after lunch you will re-board Indies Explorer to head back to Sikakap, boarding the Ambu Ambu at 5:00pm and arriving back in Padang at 7:30am on Thursday morning.

* Please note we allow groups of only 6 guests per charter and that during your charter guests from Macaronis Resort may join at any time using one of the 13 cabins provided on the Indies Explorer. Likewise, if you feel the need for rest and recuperation during your charter and there is a spare villa available at Macaronis Resort, then you may decide to jump off the Indies Explorer and take up occupancy in a villa as a single willing to share guest at no extra charge (* dependant on maximum surfers policy).

Please contact us for further details and to check availability.
